Anubis Sarcophagus with Mummy, Ancient Egyptian Coffin, Embalming God
This hand painted Egyptian Sacophagus with removable Mummy is embelished with the face of Anubis. Measures approx. 5 1/2 inches tall and 2 inches wide.
Ancient Egyptians believed that Anubis, the god of embalming, decided the fate of the dead in the afterlife. Jackals (a scavenging animal related to wolves) were often seen digging up buried bodies and eating them. This is most likely why Anubis was depicted as a jackal.
Wish the “lid” fit a little tighter but overall great product.
