Item description
This rare, vintage style, green uranium glass figurine of Virgin Mary turns a pink color under black light. Its stands approximately 4 inches tall. Glass color may vary slightly.
Uranium glass, sometimes called Vaseline glass was extremely popular during the 1950 – 1970s. When exposed to a black light it glows all sorts or eerie colors. It is not your regular glow-in-the-dark.
Uranium glass is a type of glass which has had uranium added to it for coloration. Uranium is a naturally occurring, dense radioactive metal and is used as fuel in nuclear reactors. Since the amount is so low, this uranium glass figurine is completely harmless. The proportion is usually very low, about 2-10 percent.
