This species of Mantis Shrimp (oratosquilla oratoria) is found in the Western Pacific and is widely harvested in Japan for food. In more recent years it has been introduced to other regions, such as Australia, where it is considered an invasive species. The name Mantis Shrimp is due to its long, powerful front ‘mantis-like arms.’ It is a predator whose main diet consists of invertebrates and small fish.
